Telefone is Mac Burrus and brothers Justin and Brandon Tapp — a trio collaborating across Los Angeles, Austin, and Spain. The three met in Los Angeles as fans of each other's bands, and when Burrus filled in on bass for a run of the Tapp brothers' tour dates, the chemistry was immediate. Life scattered them across cities and years before they finally made it official. Their songs range from 60s-inflected pop to finely tuned indie arrangements to full-on rock crunch, each release pushing further into new territory. Their latest, a split EP with Talking With Hands, is their sharpest work yet — clever, visceral, and sardonic in all the right places.
